Hello! I’m Fam! Get to know me with a little background:
While in primary school, I knew I loved education early on. I would gladly help my classmates that were struggling with the coursework and help to motivate them.
I started working as a certified nursing assistant (CNA) in 2004, while awaiting acceptance into nursing school. I completed my Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) at the University of Central Florida (UCF) in 2006. I worked on a Cardiac Interventional Unit for 2 1/2 years. During that time, I became a resource to other nurses and started precepting nursing students. I went on to work on a Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) for 4-5 years. During that time, I became the primary preceptor for transitional, experienced & international nurses. I also became CCRN certified and started working as an Adjunct nursing clinical/lab instructor & starting mentoring nursing students. I later obtained my Master of Nursing Science (MSN) at UCF 2011 and became a board-certified nurse practitioner (APRN) in 2012. I have experience as a hospitalist APRN & Advanced heart failure (including VADs & heart transplant). Since I wanted to impact my clinical practice with evidence, I went on to complete my Doctor of Nursing Practice (2018) at UCF. Since I was working in an acute care environment (hospital), I felt it was paramount for me to complete the post-graduate adult gerontology acute care nurse practitioner certification (AGACNP-BC), which I completed May 2020. I’m currently working full time as a Cardiothoracic Nurse Practitioner and Adjunct Nursing Faculty at the University of Central Florida in the Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner Program (BSN-DNP/Post-graduate Certification).
Along the way, my passion for nursing education has led me to mentor many nursing students, nurses, and nurse practitioners. As the CEO/owner of Level Up Nursing, LLC., I will help you transition into your new nursing role. I have made many mistakes along the way, I will help you to avoid those same mistakes to reach your nursing goals more efficiently, while saving your coins! I want you all to level up in nursing!
